10k Step to Stop
Oct 8th 2022
Each year it is estimated that there are 1.9 million victims of domestic abuse, of which 1.3 million are women.
As part of a campaign named ‘Time to Skip’, which put focus on supporting women across various personal and work related issues, Go Green hosted a 10K charity walk to raise money for Domestic Abuse Stops Here (DASH), who’s mission is to ‘…educate and empower people to understand, recognise & respond to Domestic Abuse.’
Our 10k fundraiser walk for ‘Time to Skip Being Silenced’ took place on Saturday 8th November at Hatfield Moors Nature Reserve, in Doncaster. With 28 Go Green staff, directors, and family members (not to mention a few dogs) taking part, it was great to see so many people come together to raise awareness for such an important cause.
Through sponsorships from family, staff and our supply chain, Go Green raised £800.00 for DASH, helping them to continue carrying out their specialist support for victims of domestic abuse, alongside raising awareness for the issue and delivering over £2,000 of social value.
Go Green wanted to implement ongoing change within Go Green, therefore alongside raising funds for DASH, we funded two members of staff to undergo Domestic Abuse Awareness Training, and plan to train additional staff, to ensure there is support available to our teams if ever they need it.
Alongside Time to Skip Being Silenced, we also put focus on championing women moving into the waste industry, period poverty, and women’s health.
