Major Renovation Project

Go Green recently took part in a large-scale community renovation project at Felixstowe Opportunity Group (FOG), joining National Highways East (NHE), VINCI Construction and a network of contractors and supply chain partners to help improve the charity’s outdoor facilities.
Coordinated through the NHE social value working group, the week-long initiative brought together 34 organisations in support of FOG, a community hub that provides a wide range of services designed to promote wellbeing, tackle isolation and support vulnerable people across the local area.
Bringing Organisations Together
The project united businesses, suppliers and volunteers with a shared goal: to help create a more accessible and welcoming outdoor environment for the charity and the communities it supports.
As part of the renovation, Go Green coordinated waste management support to facilitate the refurbishment works. Working alongside Collins Skip Hire, two skips were provided to support site clearance activities throughout the project.
Transformation in Progress
Throughout the week, volunteers contributed their time, skills and resources to deliver a series of upgrades to the outdoor space. Improvements included the installation of raised beds, wider pathways and enhanced access routes designed to improve accessibility for visitors.
Creating Lasting Community Benefits
The finished improvements will help create a safer and more inclusive environment for wheelchair users, people with limited mobility and older visitors, while supporting Felixstowe Opportunity Group’s delivery of essential community services.
FOG provides a range of support programmes across the local area, including bereavement support, services for children with disabilities and their families, support for young mothers, free counselling, community choir activities and garden club sessions. Delivered at no cost to the charity through the combined efforts of businesses, suppliers and volunteers, the project will leave a lasting legacy for both Felixstowe Opportunity Group and the people it serves.
