Q1 Social Value Wrap-Up
April 09th 2025
As we transition into the second quarter of 2025, Go Green is pleased to reflect on the impactful outcomes delivered to date through our GROWW Framework. Leveraging all five pillars of the framework, we continue to drive meaningful engagement with customers, partners, and communities across the UK.
GreenEthos
As part of our commitment to environmental sustainability, a team of Go Green employees participated in a tree planting initiative at Farnley Hall Park, Leeds. The event, organised by the Woodland Creation team at Leeds City Council, aimed to enhance biodiversity and establish sheltered woodland areas within the park. Contributing to this initiative, Team Go Green successfully planted an estimated 70–80 trees, including species such as sycamore, rowan, oak, pine, and hawthorn.
ReEducate
Our internally developed Eco Heroes and Eco Influence programmes—designed to complement the national curriculum—remain a cornerstone of our educational outreach, and are targeted to KS 1, 2, 3 & 4. Our CSR, ESG and Social Value sessions are delivered to business students in further education and sixth form colleges to enrich business ethics modules. In Q1, we successfully delivered 36 interactive sessions, across 12 events hosted by a range of partners, including Nether Edge Primary, Messingham Beavers, and Queensway Primary School.
Additionally, we facilitated 7 careers-focused sessions, covering mock interview preparation, CV writing workshops, careers fairs, and insight events centred around careers education and green careers. These took place at several institutions including Don Valley Academy, Thrybergh Academy, and Wickersley School and Sports College.
OurCommunity
During the first quarter, Go Green actively engaged in three community-led initiatives. These included participation in The Great Tommy Sleep Out in support of Royal British Legion Industries and volunteering efforts with Emmaus Hull, where our team assisted with the organisation and sorting of significant volumes of donated textiles, books, and toys for resale in their charity shops.
Go Green are committed to providing “support into work” guidance through coaching, CV and mock interview help to unemployed people in local communities. In February Go Green organised CV Writing and Mock Interview Workshops at Doncaster Housing for Young People (DHYP) where DHYP customers received CV and mock interview help in a 1:1 setting. In March Go Green volunteered at Crystal Peaks Youth Club to deliver mock interview sessions to 18–24-year-olds who are currently unemployed. This event was book via See It Be It In Sheffield and is an initiative organised by Jobcentre and Sheffield Council to improve employability skills and give young people a chance to practice interviews with volunteers from various companies.
WasteSchool
Internally, we celebrated National Apprenticeship Week, focusing on the contributions apprentices can bring to a business. Go Green are lucky to have had several successful apprenticeship placements and we look forward to continuing this journey. We also completed our annual Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) refresher training for all employees, delivered by our Fairness, Inclusion & Respect (FIR) Committee.
Wellness&Health
Go Green remains committed to cultivating an open, inclusive, and supportive workplace culture. In February, we recognised Time to Talk Day in alignment with Mind’s national campaign, reminding employees of available internal resources, including our network of Mental Health First Aiders and regular well-being check-ins through one-to-one meetings. We also relaunched our Employee Diversity Survey to gain deeper insight into our workforce demographics and to help shape future EDI-focused policies and practices.
Customer Collaboration
As part of our ongoing commitment to delivering social value, we work closely with our clients to enhance and align with their community-focused objectives. In Q1, we were proud to collaborate with Farrans Construction, Taylor Woodrow, Wienerberger UK, VINCI Construction, Ringway Surrey, and Story Contracting—supporting the delivery of impactful initiatives across the regions they serve.
“We are very proud of the strides we have made in the first quarter of 2025 through our GROWW Framework. Our ReEducate and OurCommunity initiatives have not only fostered educational growth and environmental stewardship but have also strengthened our ties with local communities. By collaborating with schools, community groups, and our valued clients, we continue to drive meaningful change and create lasting social value across the UK.”
